Tooth-Colored Fillings
When a tooth becomes damaged from a cavity or decay, a dental filling can be used to restore its appearance and function. A dental filling works by sealing off spaces that food particles and bacteria can use to access the inner areas of a tooth. The treatment is extremely common, with almost every patient receiving a routine dental filling at some point in their lifetime.
At Admire Dental Southgate, we provide patients with tooth-colored fillings that appear more natural than traditional metal restorations. Our tooth-colored fillings are constructed from a combination of quartz and glass fillers housed inside a resin medium. This results in a strong and durable restoration that is highly resistant to leaking.
When receiving a tooth-colored filling, the dentist starts by removing any decay that is found within the tooth. Once the tooth is clean, a composite filling material is used to seal off any voids or holes that are present. The composite material is then hardened using a special dental curing light. Finally, the filling material is polished and shaped so the tooth has a natural appearance. Once completed, the patient will be immediately able to resume their normal eating, brushing and flossing habits.
