Dental Implants
Tooth loss is a very serious oral health problem that can lead to even more harmful consequences if left untreated. There are many reasons why tooth loss occurs, including excessive tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder and injuries to the mouth. Over time, missing teeth can result in the deterioration of the jawbone, a loss of facial structure, undesired tooth shifts and severe bite imbalances.
Dental implants represent one of the most viable treatment options for missing teeth. The treatment consists of surgically inserting a titanium metal framework into the patient’s jawbone. This metal framework is specifically designed to securely support crowns, bridges or dentures as needed. Since dental implants conduct the same functions as natural tooth roots, most patients who have received dental implants say that their replacement teeth feel exactly the same as their original ones. At Admire Dental South Gate, we specialize in endosteal implants.
Endosteal Implants
Endosteal implants are designed to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. The minimally-invasive surgery starts with inserting a titanium foundation into the patient’s jawbone. A supporting post that can secure a dental crown, bridge or denture is then attached to this initial foundation. Because endosteal implants are secured inside the jawbone, they are very sturdy and properly support prosthetic teeth even while talking or eating.
