Composite Bonding
Composite bonding is one of the quickest and easiest ways to instantly improve the look of a person’s teeth. The treatment involves using tooth-colored resin to repair teeth that are decayed or damaged, while also improving their overall appearance.
Composite bonding has many uses, such as:
- Filling cavities
- Restoring damaged or decayed teeth
- Color adjustments
- Reducing gaps
- Adjusting tooth lengths
- Fixing misshapen teeth
- Protecting the roots of teeth
Since composite bonding is a relatively simple and quick procedure, it can usually be completed in just one visit. The first step is to thoroughly clean the tooth and remove any decay or deterioration that is present. Next, the dentist will select a shade of resin that best matches your natural teeth. The resin is applied directly to the tooth in multiple layers and hardened using a special dental curing light.
After the desired level of thickness has been achieved, the resin will be given a chance to fully dry so it can reach the proper consistency. The tooth will then be buffed and polished in order to give it a natural appearance. Finally, the patient will be given instructions to ensure that the composite bonding lasts as long as possible. With proper care, the composite bonding should last between five and ten years.
